A Fall Dress and Lots of Chili

This beautiful fall transition dress features warm colors, thicker material, short sleeves and a feminine fit.

I was planning a visit to my parents and thought that I would bring them dinner. I figured they could freeze it for later or we could eat it together when I arrived at their place. They live in another state and it’s not often that I get to see them so I was excited to cook for them.

Chili is one of my favorite dishes and I started cooking early in the day so that the flavors would have time to meld together. I picked the best lean ground beef and used black beans because I knew how much they like them. I added my own special touch – a little cinnamon – and after a quick taste test, deemed it ready to go. The evening before my trip my dad sent me a photo of a meal that their next door neighbor had just brought over. Guess what it was? Chili!

I couldn’t help but laugh. They have very sweet neighbors who are always watching out for them. We ate my chili last night and I’m pretty sure we’re having it again today. But that’s okay; I would eat chili every day if I could! But my parents probably won’t want to see another pot of chili for a long time.

One thing I wouldn’t mind seeing again is another cute dress like the one I’m showing you today. My sister gave this to me and it’s from LuLaRoe. I’ve never owned any of their items but my sister says their leggings are the most comfortable things around. I was excited to try the brand out.

Material Girl

First, let’s talk about the material. The dress is made of 96% spun polyester and 4% spandex. I had not heard of spun polyester before and did a little research.

Spun poly has so many advantages over poly cotton. It doesn’t require ironing, doesn’t shrink, has greater washability, doesn’t stain as easily as poly cotton, looks, breathes and feels better than poly cotton, and it also lasts longer. I was impressed! The dress is not only extremely comfortable, but it is easy to move around in, stretches with me, doesn’t wrinkle and keeps its shape throughout the day.

The colors in this dress are perfect for fall. It’s covered in red and gold butterflies and flowers as well as pale blue flowers, all on a blue/gray background. I love its fit-and-flare silhouette because it provides structure and shape but isn’t body conscious. The sleeves cover the upper arms, which I like, and the hemline hits right at the knee, which is perfect for me. Pockets on each side of the dress also come in handy!

Jewel Tones

The Plunder necklace I’m wearing seems to be made just for this dress. It’s the Amari necklace and it has crystals and different colored flowers. You can buy this necklace by itself or as a set with the Emery earrings. I bought the set. I didn’t get a photo of the earrings, but you can see them up close in the link below.

My bracelet is a copper piece that I picked up several years ago while on a business trip to Arizona. It’s getting a nice patina to it while still keeping its copper tones. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a good clear photo of the bracelet.

Classic black pumps are a perfect match for a fall transition dress.

I could have worn nude pumps with this dress but I tend to do that a lot with dresses. I changed it up a bit and brought out my classic pair of black heels. These are from the Sam Edelman brand and while they do have some height, they also have comfort with a padded sole.

A round purse is the perfect accessory to a beautiful fall transition dress.

My purse is from ThredUP; it’s a cute round bag that has silver studs and a tassel on the zipper. This is one of those items that ThredUP sells that still has the original price tags on it. It came in perfect condition with nary a scratch on it!

I mentioned how much I liked the pattern and material of this dress. I forgot to tell you that the full skirt is a perfect cover up for those days when you’d like to have an extra helping of comfort food. Sounds like it’s time for a bowl of chili.

    1. Thanks, Jodie! It was definitely comfortable and appropriate to wear to work. I can also see it with a jean jacket and flats for a more casual feel. I think I’ll be adding more LuLaRoe to my closet!

  1. Iam really feeling this dress. That’s so me. Thank you! It’s simple but it has the elegance with it! Definitely my go to dress😘
