How To Wear A Leopard Shirt and Red Pants

Leopard and red work well together in a flowy, relaxed outfit.

One of my favorite colors is red. I’ve always known that it is an emotionally intense color, signifying  passion, danger, strength, power and love. If I had to pick a color to describe my life these last few years, I can think of no other color than red. My family has gone through many ups and downs. I met the love of my life. I’ve gained new relationships and have lost some as well. I left a successful career and embarked on a new calling. These are all pretty significant milestones in anyone’s life. I know I’m not the only one experiencing such events. I bet all of us have a little red in our lives!

Today’s outfit takes red and combines it with another of my favorite classic prints: leopard. This is a strong combination and can sometimes border on tacky depending on how it’s styled, but I think it works in this outfit. There is nothing over the top: no tight materials, no loud bling and no stilettos. Instead, everything is casual, flowy and comfortable.

Ruffled sleeves add delicate femininity to a leopard shirt.

I picked up the leopard print top a few years ago at a local boutique. It has slight ruffles on the sleeves, adding delicate femininity to this look. It’s no longer available, but here are a few other options.

My cropped pants are from Loft and they are so soft that they feel like pajamas. The material is a linen/rayon blend with just a hint of spandex. As you can see, they wrinkle easily, but that doesn’t bother me too much. The pants come with a removable belt.

Lace up wedge sandals add femininity to an outfit.

On Repeat

You’ve seen this bag before in this post and this one. It adds a contrasting light touch to the dark colors. This purse works with so many outfits, holds all of my stuff and is easy to carry. It also comes with a longer handle if you want to convert it to a crossbody bag. If you think you can wear an item or use an accessory with many outfits, then you may want to consider adding it to your closet. You’ll be sure to get your money’s worth out of it.

The lacy cutouts on these wedge gladiator sandals add femininity to an outfit.

I bought these wedge sandals from Target this past spring. They are designed by Dolce Vita and are called the dv Marybeth Laser Cut Cork Wedge Gladiator Sandals. Target is still showing them in stock online, but I’m not sure if the stores are still carrying them. The heel is 2.75 inches high, but the wedge makes them stable and comfortable. The lacy cutouts soften up this outfit’s look. Here’s a similar gladiator sandal with a shorter heel on Amazon that has received good reviews.

Alex and Ani pendants are simple and versatile.

I kept my jewelry simple with an Alex and Ani pendant necklace and bracelet.

This is a great casual office outfit and also a perfect transitional outfit for any occasion in the Fall. The blouse is a thin polyester and can easily be worn under a blazer. The cropped pants provide warmth for cool mornings but the linen material will keep you cool when the temps rise in the afternoon. Maybe a leopard top will leave you feeling a little adventurous and instead of going to the office, you’ll want to paint the town red.
