Light and Breezy in Sizzling Temps

We have been going through a heat wave here in Virginia. Today’s temp is supposed to reach 97 degrees and tomorrow’s high is predicted to be 102! My pup, Harper, is always up for a walk or run, but even she doesn’t want to venture outside. When we start to get into these dog days of summer, I always reach for a light and breezy dress.

This one from Old Navy is light, flowy and has the prettiest flutter sleeves. It’s 100% rayon, which makes it breathable, comfortable and moisture absorbent – perfect for a sweltering summer day!

I kept this look casual with flat, slide sandals, but you could dress this up for work or church with heels and a blazer.

Here’s a closeup of the sandals. I picked these up for $19.99 at T.J.Maxx. These are the Mariella brand and they’re made in Italy. These are suede and although there’s not too much padding in the footbed, these sandals are still extremely comfortable to wear. I had them on for several hours the day we shot these photos and had no issues whatsoever with them. The cute flower detail at the top and the navy blue color paired well with the flower pattern and colors on the dress.

My bag is from Amazon and the light pink color is a perfect match to the light pink of the flowers on the dress. This is the Aitbag brand and it’s faux leather with gold accents. It comes with a detachable shoulder strap in case you want to carry it as a crossbody. It’s large enough to hold all of my essentials and then some. I bought this bag in the spring and have used it quite often during these last few months. It’s a perfect bag for these warmer months.

The last thing I want to show you are these adorable bracelets, which were made by my sister! These are bands of gold wire looped around different color stones and faux pearls. I saw this in my jewelry box when I was looking for bangles to wear with this dress and it was if they were made just for this outfit! I wish I had taken a better picture of them because they are really beautiful. I’ll do that next time (I think I was my sister’s biggest customer when she was making these so I have many of her collections!).

I just checked the temp. It’s already 90 degrees and it’s not even noon! I hope it’s a little cooler wherever you are.
