When I think of comfort pants, I think of joggers or yoga pants. I love their stretchy and unrestricted style. Problem is, I don’t feel comfortable wearing them out of the house. They are a little too casual for me to take beyond my driveway. For me, these pants serve a pretty specific purpose: to work out or to lounge around at home.
But Gopantsla is quickly changing how I feel about comfort pants. I received a pair of these pants as a prize for winning the Thrifted Chick Style Challenge in November. Gopantsla did not ask me to write a post about the pants nor are they paying me to write a post. But I would not show you a piece or recommend it if I didn’t like it and wouldn’t wear it myself. My husband told us this week that he wants to fry a turkey this Thanksgiving. We tried this a few years ago and it was a spectacular failure. After 4 hours in the fyer, the turkey was still pink. Pink, I tell you! To this day, we’re not exactly sure what went wrong because we thought that we followed all the directions. If we hadn’t agreed to put a “backup” turkey in the oven, then we would have been eating a meatless Thanksgiving Day meal.
I once had a boss who said if we were going to fail at something, let it be a spectacular failure. That way, everyone would know that we gave the effort everything we had, and then some. We certainly learned a few things from our last turkey frying attempt and we’ll be putting those lessons to use this year.
And I’ll be buying a second turkey, just in case.

When my boys were little, I loved visiting them at school. Sometimes, I went to see them during their lunch period and I would bring them a special lunch from their favorite restaurant. Or I’d attend an event in their classroom. Since I worked full-time back then, it was always fun to spend a few extra minutes with my kids while they were in school. This weekend my husband started decorating for Halloween. We set up a “haunted front yard” every year, and I never really know what he’s going to do. One year he built a coffin with fake body pieces coming out of it. Another year, he built what looked like an underground cage with zombie heads and arms reaching out. On Saturday I came home from running errands and he built a queen size bed in the front yard. That’s right, a bed. It has sheets and a fake body on top of it. His decorating is a multi-day event and he’s not done yet. On Halloween night, we both dress up. He’s usually some kind of horrific host, and I dress up to look like I’m a statue of some sort and scare trick-or-treaters when I make a sudden movement as they walk by.
It’s all in good fun and we have visitors who return year after year to see what we’ve done. Although we have some pretty scary scenes, we keep everything G-rated because we still want kids to enjoy themselves. But when we see adults walk through the yard, well, we like to put a little extra efforts into our scare tactics. Continue reading “Keeping Leopard Print and Leather Classic For Work”
