Happy New Year and welcome to the first post of 2018 for the Ageless Style Linkup! The Linkup runs the first Tuesday of each month and features 10 women styling something based on one theme, 10 different ways. This month we are welcoming two lovely ladies to our group: Kellyann of This Blonde’s Shopping Bag and Lisa of Classic Style by Lisa. You can find all of their links later in this post.
When I think of comfort pants, I think of joggers or yoga pants. I love their stretchy and unrestricted style. Problem is, I don’t feel comfortable wearing them out of the house. They are a little too casual for me to take beyond my driveway. For me, these pants serve a pretty specific purpose: to work out or to lounge around at home.
But Gopantsla is quickly changing how I feel about comfort pants. I received a pair of these pants as a prize for winning the Thrifted Chick Style Challenge in November. Gopantsla did not ask me to write a post about the pants nor are they paying me to write a post. But I would not show you a piece or recommend it if I didn’t like it and wouldn’t wear it myself. Shopping local is something I love to do throughout the year. Buying items in your local non-big box store is just plain good for so many reasons. For starters, by shopping local, you’re helping that business grow and hopefully, become more successful. That way, they can continue to bring you their goods and services. Starting a business is also part of the quintessential American dream, that a vision coupled with hard work creates an opportunity for success. Why not help move that dream closer to reality?
If you buy local, your money also goes toward the community in which you live. Local governments collect sales tax revenue from businesses. Having worked for a long time for a local government, these revenues are used to make communities a better place for you to live, work and raise a family. Who doesn’t want to improve their community?
Welcome to my very first post! I’m a little excited, a little terrified since I’ve never done anything like this before. So I hope you’ll bear with me as I make my way through this. Let me tell you right off the bat that I tend to be a perfectionist. I want everything to look just right, in the best light, with the best story, etc. Well, when I first saw these pictures, I thought Oh no, we can’t use these! They’re too dark, my hair is frizzy, my dress is baggy, I need to work on my smile, yada, yada, yada. I was ready to take another set, but after mulling over it a bit, I figured that this blog is about my real life, which is far from perfect, but which still makes me very happy because of my husband, my sons, and everyone else who touches my life. I’m not a model with a fancy photographer; I’m a woman who is proud of the lines, bumps, bruises and everything else that has made me who I am. I believe in lifting people up through positivity and I hope that maybe a story on this blog, or an outfit or whatever else comes through here will do that for someone, some day. So there you have it! Please be patient as I try to figure out the blogosphere, my camera, bokeh and everything else. It’s not going to be perfect, but I hope that we will have fun together!
