Hello friends! 2018 sped quickly out of the gate for me and I’m still working to catch up! Family matters and health issues have kept me away from the blog for a bit. My job has kept me pretty busy as well; the end of the year and the beginning of a new year are busy times for me. Obviously, my family and our health takes priority, and my job helps pay the bills, so the blog ends up getting the short end of the stick during these busy times. I will try to get here as much as I can. Thanks so much for sticking with me and for your patience. Continue reading “Dreaming of Summer with Palazzo Pants”
Happy New Year and welcome to the first post of 2018 for the Ageless Style Linkup! The Linkup runs the first Tuesday of each month and features 10 women styling something based on one theme, 10 different ways. This month we are welcoming two lovely ladies to our group: Kellyann of This Blonde’s Shopping Bag and Lisa of Classic Style by Lisa. You can find all of their links later in this post.
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are still enjoying this holiday week. We went to see my parents for a quick visit and then came back home to spend time with my husband’s parents and uncle. Since the kids are off from school, I’ve got various appointments to get them to and I’m also still working my part-time job. So while we are still in holiday mode, we do have a bit of a To-Do list.
The other night my best friend – a woman I’ve known for 43 years – called me. She actually Facetimed me, so I was tickled pink when I saw her name come up on my phone and it was a bonus to see her. Because of the schedules of our two families as well as distance (she lives in another state), it has been many years since we last visited each other.
Hey! Guess what’s on TV right now?
“The Sound of Music!” I said without hesitation. It was indeed being broadcast and we both laughed after I said it.
On Saturday we had our first snowfall of the season and on Sunday we started planning for our summer vacation.
Not because of the snow, but because with a blended family and the schedules of four teenagers, we have to plan around schedules that are already set seven months ahead. Continue reading “Enjoy the Moments of the Season in a Green Suede Jacket”
I woke up early Saturday morning to learn that I had won the Thrifted Chic Style Challenge from last week! Excited can’t even begin to describe how I felt. This was my first-ever contest for a style challenge and my first win. Continue reading “Thrifted Chic Style Challenge Winner!”
During my dad’s first military assignment on the island of Crete in Greece, we lived off base in a small apartment. It had no central hearing nor air conditioning. My parents had space heaters in some rooms, but they weren’t enough to keep us warm during the winter. Not that it gets super hot or cold there. The average temperature in January hovers around 52 degrees Fahrenheit with the hottest temps reaching about 79 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer.
Still, I remember plenty of cold nights in our little apartment during the winter. My parents didn’t feel it was safe to leave the space heaters on all night, so we would wrap ourselves in coats, hats and gloves. Then we would crawl under our many layers of blankets. In a family of four kids, we didn’t have separate coats for separate occasions. The coat I crawled in bed with was the same coat I wore to school, to play outside, to go to church, etc.
Maybe that’s why today I have a decent collection of coats. Trenches, casual coats, jean jackets, leather jackets and anoraks are all in my closet. I enjoy wearing each of them throughout the year. Continue reading “Stepping Back In Time With A Red Swing Coat”
